Hi Ms. Finley and other Young Democrats,

Hallelujah!!! Key Club and Investment Club are not meeting next week. I think we should have Christine on the 29th (Wednesday) at 7:00 am in Mrs. Brandt's room (HUGANTIC PUBLICITY). The Christine Cegelis fundraiser is taking place in Mark Demich's house on September 23 (this Thursday) and I want to hopefully get $50 total from personal contributions on this Wednesday's afternoon meeting. The Young Dems are welcome to come to Demich's house on 218 W. Lincoln in Wheaton, IL. If you need driving directions, feel free to email me back or ask me in person. So, our agenda will focus on making posters for Christine's visit and the fundraiser. Thanks and take care.

So, if you don't already know, we have a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday September 22 after school and our next meeting will be next Wednseday, September 29th before school! Yay!

(crossposted)

I've created a "lovemark" for Kerry on the lovemarks website, and sent a link to all of my friends... I went to go look at how it was doing, and I was dismayed to learn that a bunch of nasty Bushies had gone to my page and voted "lose it" on it...YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. Anyway, it's nothing that will directly affect the election, but it's a fun website where you can nominate things that inspire you. I, of course, nominated John Kerry!!!!!!

So, for those of you who are fellow Kerry supporters, please consider taking a moment to SUPPORT OUR MAN. Here is the link:
http://www.lovemarks.com/lm/read.php?LID=2260#Scene_1

Go to the lower left of the screen under Kerry's pic and vote "love it!!" You can also leave favorable comments about our guy. A lot of people from all over the world see this site. Unfortunately, I think some Bush supporters are deleting their cookies and voting over and over again, so I really hope I can get a lot of people to vote for Kerry!

Thank you again. If there is anything I can do to help any of you, like participate in a poll or visit your website, etc, let me know.

P.S. A Letter From Mr. President
Hi,

The meeting at Milton Township went well as five Young Democrats members showed up and the crowd in general was great. Adam Porton, Matt Kennedy, and I (Suhail Khokhar) were interviewed by NPR and our clip will be broadcast on Saturday, June 19 at 4 till 5 in the afternoon. The station is 91.5 and and show is called All Things Considered (I believe). Also, for those of you interested in volunteering for a campaign, the campaign office for Cegalis and Obama has opened in DuPage County and is located on North Avenue 53 ( go west on North Avenue and turn left into 53, you willl see some officces there, just look for the one that says Democrats). Call me at (630) 260-9910 for any info and for those who will be seniors, the registration is due June 15. You can register online at this website Application for Election Judge | DuPage County Elections. PLEASE DO THIS PROMPTLY. I hope to see some volunteering and will keep you all posted on updates. Thanks and good luck.

Suhail Khokhar

I hope you have been having a fun summer. As you may know, Barack Obama and Christine Cegelis will be opening a joint office mid-June and they are eagerly anticipating volunteers from Glenbard West. So, if you are available at anytime, please email me with your phone number, name, and address so I can notify them. For those of you who will be seniors, if you are interested in becoming election judge volunteers, email me with your phone number, name, and address because the forms that we received were for the primary elections, not the general elections. Also, if you have any questions, feel free to call me at (630) 260-9910. I will be receiving more information and will notify everyone on the updates. Also, Milton Township Democrats are meeting this Wednesday at 7:00 PM. So show up if you can and the address for Milton Township is at the Arrowhead Golf Course (one mile west of Naperville and Butterfield). A rep from Obama's campaign will be there. Thanks for your attention and have a nice summer.

Suhail Khokhar

p.s.- There was a girl that showed up to the Young Dems meetings for Cegelis and she was new. If anyone knows her, email me her email address and name so that she can be notified of the volunteer opportunities.

Board Meeting On May 21, 2004 [May. 22nd, 2004|03:53 pm]
Glenbard West Young Democrats

[mood |accomplished]

This Friday was the first meeting of the new board. Congratulations to Clare, Angelica and Suhail on their new positions!
Several things were discussed at this meeting, including plans for the rest of this year as well as next year:
1. There will be a meeting on Monday, May 24 at 7:05 in order to make posters advertising the arrival of our guest speaker(s)(Christine Cegelis may be joining us!) on Wednesday, May 26 or Thursday, May 27.
2. There may be a few new positions opened up to possible board members, the first being a publicity position for Spencer. Another possible opening is that of Liaison, which would be given to Pat. Finally, a position for Sophomore Representative will open up for Carmel.
3. Next year we plan to get a voter registration under way which may require members of the club to give speeches in order to inform classes. The League of Women's Voters and Doreen Nelson may also be involved in this next year.
4. In the upcoming school year, the majority of our club will be seniors, and it will therefore be greatly encouraged that our members join the FIRST Judge program to become election judges.
5. We are looking forward to many charity drives in the upcoming year, including UNICEF. The Young Democrats may also consider a campaign donation, the recipient of which we will discuss at the next meeting.
6. Once the November election is over, the club may decide to participate in the Pads program through a local church.
7. There may be an Obama office opening up in Du Page County and anyone who would like to is encouraged to volunteer there.
8. Our biggest goal for next year will be recruiting underclassmen who will carry on our tradition here at Glenbard West. This will be vital to our club and we must therefor work hard to gain members.

Finally, if you would like to become a co-manager to this community, or if you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at greenblossom1987@yahoo.com. See you all Monday!
